"981 unemployed people with disabilities applied to the state employment services of the capital in 2019. Assistance in finding jobs for this category of citizens is provided in accordance with the individual rehabilitation program for the disabled, issued by the medical and rehabilitation expert commission for vacancies declared by employers to the public employment service ", - explained in the committee.
The essence of the adaptation program is that a person with a disability in the workplace provided to him acquires and improves professional knowledge, skills and abilities, taking into account the specialty (profession) acquired or available, restores and develops labor abilities and consolidates them in the process of work. At the same time, the state compensates the employer for the cost of his labor. The process takes from six months to one year. Upon completion of the program, the employee may be left for permanent work or he will continue to select vacancies taking into account the acquired competencies, skills and knowledge.
"Today in Minsk, the labor adaptation of people with disabilities is offered in more than 30 organizations and enterprises and is carried out in more than 60 professions, such as cashier, administrator, dispatcher, order picker, stacker-packer, seller," the committee added.
In addition, last year, to increase competitiveness in the labor market, eight more unemployed people with disabilities were sent to training in professions that were in demand, seven people were assisted in organizing self-employment. 60 people took part in paid public works.
As of January 1, 2020, 142 people with disabilities were registered as unemployed, to whom employment service specialists continue to provide maximum assistance in finding employment.
