MINSK, 23 April (BelTA) – Minsk Oblast Governor Aleksei Kushnarenko met with Chairman of the Executive Body of State Authority of Sughd Region Rajabboy Akhmadzoda during the visit by the delegation from Tajikistan to Belarus, BelTA has learned.

The parties examined in detail the state and prospects of interregional cooperation, noting the existence of significant untapped potential for expanding collaboration. Consideration was given to expanding mutual trade, increasing industrial and agricultural supplies, and diversifying the product range. The importance of intensifying direct contacts between enterprises of the two regions was emphasized in order to create favorable conditions for businesses to enter each other’s markets.

The discussion also focused on developing industrial cooperation, including in agricultural processing, mechanical engineering, and the production of construction materials. The parties also expressed interest in implementing joint investment projects to create new production facilities and increase the added value of manufactured goods. During the talks, the need for deeper cooperation in agriculture was noted, including the exchange of experience in modern farming methods, processing and storage of produce. Developing business ties was also discussed, including organizing mutual business missions, participating in exhibitions and fairs, and establishing direct partnerships between private sector representatives.
As Aleksei Kushnarenko noted, the central region of Belarus and the Sughd Region enjoy long-standing partnership. “We meet annually at the leadership level to decide on the next steps for implementing our agreement on scientific, technical, trade, economic and cultural cooperation. Last year in Tajikistan, we signed a roadmap for 2025-2026. This cooperation is actively developing, as confirmed by our trade figures. In 2025, trade increased 1.5 times and surpassed $53 million. Both exports and imports are growing. This year, we have added another 27%,” Aleksei Kushnarenko said.
Minsk Oblast exports timber, sugar, medications and food products to Tajikistan. In turn, the partner supplies yarn, dried fruits and nuts to Belarus. “At the same time, we understand that the potential for cooperation is much higher. We are determined to unlock it, and the visit of the Sughd Region delegation will contribute to this. We will try to demonstrate our capabilities to the guests, and I am confident that this will foster even deeper mutually beneficial cooperation,” the head of Minsk Oblast stressed.
Rajabboy Akhmadzoda noted the importance of developing cooperation between the two regions in industry, agriculture, establishing business and tourism contacts, and implementing social projects in education and healthcare. The Tajik delegation plans to visit Agrokombinat Dzerzhinsky, the China-Belarus Great Stone Industrial Park, and industrial enterprises of Minsk Oblast.
