Lukashenko dwells on prospects of advancing integration with Russia

The work on advancing the Belarusian-Russian integration will lead to the existence of two sovereign states in the single economic space, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said in an interview with the Turkish television and radio company TRT, BelTA has learned.

The head of state recalled that Union State programs concerning the enhancement of the Belarusian-Russian integration had been passed before. “This is the future of our union. We want to make even more progress in major directions of the formation of our union, to unify processes which are going on in this union,” he explained. “In a word, it will lead to the existence of two sovereign states in the single economic space.”

According to Aleksandr Lukashenko, the union of Belarus and Russia has an ethnic and economic foundation. Besides, the countries pursue the common foreign policy, have created the common defense space, and virtually have the single army.

“We have made serious progress in giving equal rights to Belarusian and Russian nationals. There are almost no differences for Belarusians and Russians in education, healthcare, in the humanitarian and cultural space. We have created equal conditions for our citizens,” the president stressed.
