Lukashenko sets priorities for civil servants

A number of measures have been worked out to ensure security in the current conditions. Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko made the statement as he met with government officials on 30 July to discuss urgent issues of the public and political situation, BelTA has learned.

Among the main measures Aleksandr Lukashenko mentioned stronger discipline at all levels and in all spheres of life. “The main approaches are stipulated by directive No.1 and ordinance No.5. It may be the time to update them,” he said.

Mobilization and composure are also extremely important for ensuring security and order, Aleksandr Lukashenko stated. “We need tried and tested mechanisms for responding to new unknown threats. We need to act effectively without bureaucratic procedures that slow us down, without mutual obstacles, without waiting for instructions, letters, and other explanations,” the Belarusian leader is convinced.

The president also drew attention to the need to work within the legal framework. Speaking about the renewal of Belarusian legislation, Aleksandr Lukashenko mentioned that legal limits for participation in mass events and in public and political activities had been set as well as legal limits for the operation of mass media. “Don't allow any gatherings and the rest without your knowledge, without your permission,” Aleksandr Lukashenko warned those present.

He also noted that he had recently signed a law that stipulates the procedure for declaring a state of emergency and other aspects of protection of the constitutional system. “It is necessary to clearly explain the essence of the laws to people at the local level via mass media, via work with school and university students, in worker collectives,” the head of state demanded.
