According to Vladimir Makei, this year's seminar is of particular importance in view of the planned meeting with the head of state and the new situation around Belarus. “We are now working on a new strategy to promote our interests in Asia and Africa, so we have a lot to discuss,” said the minister.
“Every head of a diplomatic mission and consular office should clearly understand that not only the economic development but also the sustainability of the Belarusian state in general depends on the efficiency of our efforts and our work, especially in terms of foreign economy,” stressed Vladimir Makei.
High-ranking officials, members of the Council of Ministers, heads of government agencies and organizations, leading exporters have also been invited to the meeting with the president.
The Belarusian diplomats will also have meetings with deputy prime ministers and representatives of relevant ministries and organizations, the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BelCCI) and the Eurasian Economic Commission. Heads of foreign missions will visit the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange, the Belarusian National Biotechnology Corporation, and the Stadler Minsk enterprise.
The list of topics of the seminar is quite wide and concerns not only economy and trade. These include integration, exports and investments, digitalization, international cooperation in energy, education, humanitarian and other areas. Emphasis will be made on tools to support export and its diversification, to promote medical products and farm goods to foreign markets. Priority attention will be paid to topical issues of our participation in the Eurasian Economic Union," the minister said.
In the context of the ongoing work on the constitutional amendments in Belarus, the seminar program includes meetings with the chairmen of the Constitutional Court and the Central Election Commission.
The news that Aleksandr Lukashenko was set to meet with Belarusian diplomats in the summer was announced on 6 April after a government conference on ways to optimize the network of Belarusian foreign missions. "Each head of a foreign institution will have to report on the results and prospects," Vladimir Makei said back then.
Aleksandr Lukashenko said that this meeting would hear "reports from all ambassadors on the work done, primarily in economy."
