Belarus takes measures in response to sanctions of Baltic states

MINSK, 29 September (BelTA) – Belarus has taken reciprocal measures in response to sanctions enforced by Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia, BelTA learned from Anatoly Glaz, Head of the Information and Digital Diplomacy Office, Press Secretary of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs website has released a statement by Anatoly Glaz in response to the 29 September meeting of France President Emmanuel Macron with the former Belarusian presidential candidate Svetlana Tikhanovskaya. The statement mentions that the Baltic states had expanded the sanction lists against Belarus. “Well, today, as promised, we are also imposing symmetrical restrictive measures against each of these countries. We've said that this is a downward spiral launched by individual Lithuanian politicians. We will continue to respond, but we will never initiate such steps,” the statement reads.

Anatoly Glaz talked to a BelTA reporter and explained that the Belarusian side had compiled its own sanction lists targeting Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia. They contain names of about 100 officials from each country. They are now forbidden to enter Belarus.
