Minsk Oblast paper company in for joint venture with Czech Interservice

Paper manufacturer JSC Spartak intends to start a joint manufacturing project together with the Czech company Interservice. The project will involve the processing of sanitary and hygiene paper, Spartak Director Sergei Shumsky told BelTA.

The Czech partner intends to invest over €1 million in buying a modern line to process sanitary and hygiene paper and intends to supply the chemical raw materials for manufacturing the products, which are not manufactured in Belarus at present. The products include the foundation for toilet paper, toilet paper itself, and kitchen towels in bundle packaging. The Czech company will take the bulk of the Belarus-made merchandise to sell it in the European Union while some will be sold in Belarus and neighboring countries.

“The new line will allow Spartak to increase the processing of sanitary and hygiene paper by 3.5-4 times. In addition to racking up the output of consumer goods the look of the packaging and the products themselves will be improved considerably. The product range and the color range will be expanded,” said the executive.

The new line is supposed to be installed in October-November 2013. The designed output capacity will be reached by the end of the year.

At present OAO Spartak makes over 30 kinds of products: packaging paper, cardboard for commercial purposes, corrugating paper, paper for household, sanitary and hygiene products, paper for wallpapers, corrugated cardboard, corrugated boxes, toilet paper in packs and rolls, paper tissues, paper for sealing windows, and other things. Over 40% of the merchandise is exported primarily to Russia as well as Poland, Romania, Hungary, Bulgaria, Georgia, and the Baltic states.

The paper factory Spartak was founded in 1898. It was reincorporated as a public joint-stock company OAO Spartak in 1993. The state owns 74.79% of the authorized fund.
