Union State to launch new ambitious space exploration program

The Union State of Belarus and Russia will launch a new program Integration SG. It will provide for large-scale space exploration and development of a new generation of satellites, Deputy State Secretary of the Union State Aleksei Kubrin said at the meeting at Belarus' National Academy of Sciences, BelTA has learned.

In 2019 the Union State implemented twelve programs. The Luch program in the radioelectronic industry was completed last year. The Union State will launch a new hi-tech program, Integration SG, which will build on the previous space exploration initiatives. “We are planning to revise and harmonize the new legal framework to bring it into line with the global, Russian and Belarusian regulations. The establishment of additional systems to facilitate the interaction of spacecraft with the ground-based control complex is also in the plans. The program will be aimed at a more ambitious space exploration. We are actively discussing the possibility of developing some new satellite systems which would be considerably smaller in size and weight in the context of the remote sensing of the Earth,” said Aleksei Kubrin.

The meeting reviewed progress in the implementation of the Union State programs. Aleksei Kubrin said that last year more than RUB4 billion were spent on the projects, “1.5 times up the usual sum”. The deputy state secretary remarked that “good results were achieved in a much wider range of issues.”
