Reconfigured speed sensors on sections of the P58 Minsk - Kalachi - Myadel and P28 Minsk - Molodechno - Naroch routes. Speed increased from December 21 to P58 from the area where the highway adjoins the Moscow Ring Road (8 km) to turn onto P80 (almost 20 km of the road) - passenger cars can travel up to 120 km / h and trucks up to 100 km / h. Since December 27, it has increased the permissible speed on parts of the P28 highway - from the Moscow Ring Road to 26.6 km of the road (almost to the village of Loshany). Here the limit is 100 km / h.
As the organization said, regarding the reconfiguration of the cameras to increase the permissible speed, these two sections are so far the only ones for which a decision has been made. At the same time, there are still no mobile photo-sensing sensors on the country's roads - by the decision of the traffic police, their work was suspended from December 19. Fixed cameras continue to function.
As reported, mobile speed sensors were removed from the roads in Belarus from December 19. In total, there are 540 photo-sensing sensors in the country, of which 57 are mobile. In addition, on December 19, the Ministry of Internal Affairs was informed that traffic police officers and road owners (the Ministry of Transport, regional executive committees and the Minsk city executive committee) will conduct an audit of road signs and taking into account a detailed analysis of incidents related to speeding movement, make appropriate adjustments to the operation of instruments for measuring speed.
Later, on December 27, at a meeting of the Standing Commission on Road Traffic Safety under the Council of Ministers, the decision to increase the speed limit in 16 sections of republican roads was supported. They suggested increasing the permissible speed on sections of the P58 Minsk-Kalachi-Myadel, P28 Minsk-Molodechno-Naroch, M5 Minsk-Gomel, M3 Minsk-Vitebsk, M6 Minsk-Grodno, M1 / E30 Brest-Minsk-Russian borders and several others highway sections. Also, new sections with an increased permitted speed will appear on the roads P20 and P80.
Following the meeting in the Council of Ministers, the head of the UGAI of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Dmitry Korzyuk, then told reporters that at 10 out of 16 sites, compensation measures were carried out in 2019, so they are ready to increase the speed limit without additional infrastructure and expenses. In the remaining 6 sections, the speed mode will also be increased without any problems for road safety. “All these areas will be under constant monitoring. If the situation suddenly changes, we will promptly make adjustments,” he added.
