Belarus' grain harvest almost 40% complete

Belarus has harvested some 846,700 hectares of grain (except for maize, buckwheat and millet), which is 39.2% of the cropping areas, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry.

As of 29 July, Brest Oblast remained a leader with its harvest 70.9% complete. Gomel Oblast harvested 43.2% of its areas, Grodno Oblast – 46.3%, Minsk Oblast – 33.3%, Mogilev Oblast – 29.2%. Vitebsk Oblast, which joined the harvest campaign last, has cut 15.8% of its areas planted to grain crops.

Belarusian agrarians have so far harvested almost 2.8 million tonnes of grain. The average yield makes up 33 centners per hectare this year.

The country is also competing the harvesting of winter coleseed. A total of 296,500 tonnes (99.1%) have been cropped. The yield makes up 20.9 centners per hectare.

The second cutting of grasses in Belarusian farms is 71.3% complete (some 559,000 hectares).
