MINSK, 29 May (BelTA) – The Belarusian tractor factory MTZ is an important enterprise, a national brand. Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko made the relevant statement while talking to MTZ workers on 29 May, BelTA has learned.

Aleksandr Lukashenko said: “First of all, I would like to congratulate you on [the enterprise's] birthday. It is an excellent enterprise, the face of our country, it is a brand.”

The head of state stated that high quality of products is the utmost goal in manufacturing. It will secure further development and wellbeing of the company and its personnel. “Competition is colossal in your market segment. There is one task – quality. It is the key matter of our mechanical engineering country and primarily MTZ. It is my only request and exacting requirement for all of you,” he said.

Aleksandr Lukashenko stressed that it is always better in one's home country. It is in the home country that citizens and their labor will always be in demand. “Take care of your enterprise. We will do everything to keep you working. We will see how things at MTZ will unfold. The former minister and current head of your factory [Vitaly Vovk] knows perfectly well that there is also BelAZ. Hero of Belarus [Pavel] Mariyev was in charge of that company once. It won't do that your director is not a Hero of Belarus. But in order to become a hero, he has to realize that ambitious program,” the head of state noted.

“This is why live on. Don't worry. Your job is to work. While the authorities, the government, the management of the enterprise have to make sure you have proper working conditions,” the Belarusian leader stressed.

During a tour of the enterprise the head of state was made familiar with the product range the company offers, with the technologies used to assemble tractors. It is remarkable that today marks 74 years since MTZ was founded.

The public joint-stock company (OAO) MTZ is one of the world's top ten tractor manufacturers. The company exports about 90% of the tractors it makes. It employs over 15,000 people. The holding company MTZ employs some 7,500 people in addition to that.
